Oji is an artist who produces artwork similar to graffiti. He borrows the technique’s codes and benefits from the adrenaline rush that goes with creating graffiti artwork. Oji started his career by painting on walls using spray paints. Since then, he has explored several techniques from stencil, to collage to acrylic painting.
Oji defines his style as “poetic realism”. Through the representations within his work, he seeks to call out to the passer-by on the street and use figuration to construct a metaphor. In most of his artwork, he tries to include the dramatic aspect of existence as well as a touch of hope. He began by focussing on the human body. Today, he paints birds to represent freedom. Henceforth, the artist tries to paint more plants to create a setting for these birds as well as to create worlds that breathe.
